National Apprenticeship Week 2019

4th March 2019

This week (4 - 8 March 2019) is National Apprenticeship Week, an annual celebration of apprenticeships which brings the whole apprenticeship community together to celebrate the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy.

Apprenticeships are a great path for people at any stage of their career, whether they’re starting out, re-entering the workforce or just wanting to reskill or change careers. We want to change the perceptions people have on what an apprenticeship is and who takes them up to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to take up an apprenticeship. You can find out what we’ll be doing to raise awareness of the great impact apprenticeships have on individuals and communities below.

Meet the apprentice!

Who better to tell you what it’s like to be an apprentice than our apprentices themselves! Each day this week one of our apprentices will be featuring in our meet the apprentice blog - click here to read more.

Apprentice Advisory Panel

On Friday 8 March, we’ll be hosting our second Apprentice Advisory Panel. This panel will focus on looking at the qualities that they think make good apprentices - which will support our recruitment process - and how we can promote what an apprenticeship can lead to. The panel was launched in December and gives our apprentices the opportunity to influence how the scheme is run and have their say on future plans.

Groundworks pre-employment programme

This week we’re running our first pre-employment programme in partnership with ARC Academy. The two-week programme will teach participants the essential skills that they require as an Apprentice Groundworker. At the end of the programme, the successful participants will secure a one-year apprenticeship course which starts on Monday 18 March. Find out how they get on during the week by checking in with our social media channels.
